10 HOUR JAM FOR KIDS IN NEED AND ARTISTS’ RELIEFS

Kelana Jaya, 20th September 2022 – Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) together with Malaysian Food & Beverage Executives Association, Rotary Club of Metro Kuala Lumpur and APEX Malaysia Petaling Jaya will be organising the 21st Charity Jam Session 2022 at D’Mando Restaurant & Bar.

MAH President, Ms. Christina Toh highlighted that the aspiration this year is to raise funds for University Malaya Medical Centre’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a tertiary referral centre for critically ill children and also to all the musicians who have been performing for the Charity Jam Sessions (CJS) since its inception, lending their talents to support worthy causes over the years.

CJS is the longest running corporate social responsibility programme which was first organized in the year 2000 to growing success. Funds are raised by entertaining patrons to great food accompanied by stellar music played by local talents. The proceeds from the donations and all sales of food and beverages will then be presented to the aforementioned beneficiaries.

SS Rajaa, who initiated the Charity Jam Session and championed each event as the Organizing Chairman, said that in the past 20 years, the collective amount raised is RM1.5 million. These funds were channeled to 11 different organizations and 3 individuals. “I feel very blessed for being able to do this for the past 20 years and I hope CJS will grow to be even more successful in the coming years” said Rajaa.

Various parties have come together in support of CJS - from hotels and businesses that help provide the venues, F&B items and prize vouchers to the local musicians who tirelessly perform in the name of charity. This year, for 10 hours straight, an ensemble of bands will be taking turns to sing and jam from 12 noon until 10 at night. The lineup of bands are, but not limited to Stag, Vatos Locos, The Cauliflower Robbery, Rasta Syndicate, Jetliners, Small Stones, Shahrin Band, Project X Band, Karisma, Lewis Pragasam, Roofieology and DJ Soya. In addition to the entertainment, many fun activities such as dart games, lucky draws and Dutch auctions are also available for patrons to participate in.
