On the 5th of July at the PARKROYAL COLLECTION Hotel Kuala Lumpur, MAH as a member organization, had attended two board
meetings at the venue; the first as a member of the ASEAN Hotel and Restaurant Association
(AHRA) in the morning, and the second one as a member of ASEAN Tourism
Association (ASEANTA) that MAH had attended in the afternoon.
AHRA and ASEANTA are both NGOs with members
that are comprised of national associations from all 10 ASEAN members states. The
organizations convene quarterly to discuss matters regarding hotel and F&B
for AHRA and tourism development and growth in the case of ASEANTA. The members took turns to host the meeting and
on the aforementioned date, it was Malaysia’s turn to host which it does at
PARKROYAL COLLECTION Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
After the ASEANTA Board meeting in the
afternoon, the day continued with a Networking Dinner in the evening hosted by
Tourism Malaysia held in conjunction with the ASEANTA AGM. The dinner’s Guest
of Honor was the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) YB Dato’
Sri Hajah Nancy Haji Shukri. Accompanying the Minister that night was the
Secretary General of MOTAC, YBhg. Datuk Hajah Saraya binti Arbi and the
Director General of Tourism Malaysia, YBhg. Dato' Hj Zainuddin Abdul Wahab. The
Networking Dinner saw many of MAH’s Board Members in attendance.
