Selangor, 4 November 2025 – MAH was honoured to participate in and support the Sustainability Townhall: Calorie-Conscious and Less Sugar Initiative for the Hospitality Industry, held at Dorsett Grand Subang.
The program which was organized by the Nutrition Division of the Ministry of Health Malaysia ( MOH ), was officiated by YBrs. Dr. Ismuni Bin Bohari , Deputy Director-General of Health (Public Health), Ministry of Health Malaysia, and attended by over 100 participants from across the hospitality sectors.
The session highlights the ongoing collaboration campaign between the Ministry of Health ( MOH ), Malaysia Productivity Corporation ( MPC ), Tourism Productivity Nexus ( TPN ), and the hospitality industry represented by the Malaysian Association of Hotels ( MAH ), Malaysian Association of Hotel Owners ( MAHO ), and Malaysian Budget and Business Hotels Association ( MyBHA ) to promote healthier and more sustainable dining practices under the Less Sugar & Food Waste in Hotels Campaign.
As cases of diabetes and other non-communicable diseases linked to excessive sugar consumption continue to rise nationally, the hospitality industry has a vital role to play in being part of the solution. It is our duty of care to safeguard not only the comfort of our guests but also their health and well-being.
MAH strongly encourages all hotels to participate in and support the Less Sugar in Hotels Campaign.
📋 Hotels interested in enrolling for the campaign can register here: https://forms.gle/swDw4KQ5Qzewm8qX8
Participating hotels can contribute by voluntarily reducing sugar content in their menus and/or displaying sugar and calorie information on their food and beverage offerings, empowering guests to make informed dining decisions.
MAH reaffirms its commitment to support the success of this campaign. We believes this initiative should not be seen as a one-off effort, but rather the beginning of a long-term transformation toward a healthier, more sustainable hospitality ecosystem for Malaysia.
