Weil Hotel Makes History As Malaysia’s First ESG-Certified Hotel

Ipoh, 11 November 2025 – The Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) proudly announced WEIL Hotel as Malaysia’s first ESG-certified hotel under the ESG Certification for Hotels & Resorts Programme, a collaborative initiative by MAH, SGS Malaysia and Saimatrix Integrated, officially endorsed and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) .

This achievement marks a historic milestone for Malaysia’s hospitality industry in advancing sustainable and responsible tourism practices. The ESG Certification Presentation Ceremony was held at WEIL Hotel to commemorate this achievement.

The certification recognizes WEIL Hotel’s strong commitment to integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into its daily operations, guest experiences, and corporate culture.

MAH commends WEIL Hotel for leading by example and setting a new benchmark for the hospitality industry. This milestone reflects the growing commitment of Malaysian hotels to embrace ESG principles, demonstrating that sustainability is not just a global trend but a defining direction for the future of tourism in Malaysia.

Launched by MAH in 2024, the ESG Certification Programme aims to accelerate ESG adoption among hotels and resorts nationwide, in line with the National Tourism Policy 2020–2030. Certification is awarded to participating hotels that meet globally recognized sustainability standards through rigorous assessment and verification.
