MOTAC Tourism Dialogue 2023
5 December 2023 - Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) participated in the 'MOTAC Tourism Dialogue 2023: Tourism Industry Consensus Platform' held in Putrajaya, alongside the Minister, YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing.
The event saw the presence of over 200 representatives from various ministries, agencies, and industry stakeholders, engaging in the discussion and Q&A session. Key topics discussed included the Tourism Sector Matching Grant (GSSP), the strengthening of the Malaysia My Second Home Program (MM2H), regulations for short-term rental accommodations (STRA), reduction of hotel utility costs, and the empowerment of the Tourism Industry Act (AIP) 1992, with a particular focus on enforcement and licensing issues.
The event was also attended by YB Tuan Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Deputy Minister of MOTAC; YBhg. Dato' Roslan Tan Sri Abdul Rahman, Secretary-General of MOTAC; YBrs. Mr. Mohd Yusri bin Mohd Yusoff, Deputy Secretary-General (Culture) of MOTAC, Dato' Shaharuddin bin Abu Sohot, Deputy Secretary-General (Management), and the senior management team of MOTAC.
About the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH)
Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) is the umbrella body for hotels in Malaysia formed in 1974 and initially established by a group of concerned and dedicated hoteliers to bring about a more dynamic hospitality industry aimed at building a workforce of highly skilled, innovative and disciplined individuals. Its long-term goal was to enhance the efficiency of the hospitality industry, thus, bringing about a more dynamic Malaysian hospitality industry. MAH, as the official national network for the hotel industry, represents more than 900 hotels throughout Malaysia supplying a total of 155,287 rooms which is about 65% of the total number of hotel rooms available as guest accommodation in this country. With 13 chapters across the nation, MAH acts as a voice of the industry, working as one body to promote, protect, represent and advance the interests of its members.
