“Malaysian Association of Hotels Signs Three MoUs to Kick Start Visit Malaysia Initiatives”

The Prestige Hotel, Penang (6 December 2019) Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) today signed three Memorandum of Understandings with industry partners to kick off Visit Malaysia Year 2020, spearheading industry efforts to drive tourism. In a gathering of hoteliers, industry partners, government agencies and members of the media at the brand new Prestige Hotel, MAH signed partnership understandings with the International College of Music (ICOM), Persatuan Pegawai-Pegawai Penguatkuasa Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan (PESAMA) and Select-TV Solutions Sdn Bhd (Select TV).

The MoU will see ICOM bridging expertise, education and network from the music, audio, video and lighting industry to the hotel industry. It will further provide hotels with greater access to contents and live entertainment, providing the best Malaysian hotels has to offer to tourists.

Explaining the MoU between MAH & PESAMA, Yap, Chief Executive Officer of MAH, explained the importance of enforcement and its officers working tirelessly to uphold local laws and regulations. “MAH & PESAMA shares the same objectives of a fair and level tourism industry playing field, and both are committed to support each other’s efforts and activities,” he added.

The highlight of the evening was the signing between MAH and Select TV, and subsequently the launching of MAH’s very own travel channel for hotels, Discover Malaysia. Under the partnership, MAH & Select TV will be producing its very own Visit Malaysia initiative through an exclusive hotel tv channel featuring specially curated content of destinations in Malaysia, attractions, event highlights, food and other tourism related videos.

“Our very own channel, Discover Malaysia, through our partnership with Select TV, will be provided free of charge to our over one thousand hotel members. We want to ensure that hotel guests do not miss out on anything, we want them to see and experience what Malaysia has got to offer,” said Kamaruddin Baharin, President of MAH.

He also added that MAH will provide special slots to Tourism Malaysia to feature their promotional videos on the channel. “We hope that tourists staying in our hotel will see more than just where they are visiting, and they will return for more,” Kamaruddin added.

Discover Malaysia will also be made available to other tourism stakeholders, either to broadcast or to feature their unique products and services. The initiative is set to attract over

15 million viewers a year. A preview of the channel is made available on YouTube link below.
