“The Finest Culinary Spectacle Concludes”

Kuala Lumpur – Culinaire Malaysia 2023, the region's most prestigious biennial culinary event, concluded on 22nd September 2023 after four days of culinary excellence, innovation, and fierce competition.

 

The 16th edition of this culinary extravaganza took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Hall 8 from 19th to 22nd September 2023. The event brought together a total of 1144 participants from 12 countries, competing across 37 classes, showcasing their skills, creativity, and passion for culinary arts.

 

The event was capped off with an Awards Presentation Dinner at the Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel and Residences where it was graced by YBrs. En Amin Yahya, the Senior Director, Domestic & Event of Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board (MTPB) who served as the evening Guest of Honour on behalf of Dato’ Dr Ammar Abd Ghapar the Director General of MTPB.  En Amin Yahya was accompanied by En Azmi Abdullah, the Regional Director of MTPB Central Region.

 

A total of 148 judges from around the world, led by Chief Judge Chef Karl Heinz Ney from the German Chef Association, dedicated significant effort to assess the skills of each participant. As a result, during Culinaire Malaysia 2023, a total of 573 medals were proudly conferred, which consisted of 321 Bronze, 173 Silver, 78 Gold medals, and 1 Gold with Distinction. In addition to the conferred medals, 34 prestigious awards were bestowed upon the best of the bests in the industry and region during the Awards Presentation Dinner.

About the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH)

Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) is the umbrella body for hotels in Malaysia formed in 1974 and initially established by a group of concerned and dedicated hoteliers to bring about a more dynamic hospitality industry aimed at building a workforce of highly skilled, innovative and disciplined individuals. Its long-term goal was to enhance the efficiency of the hospitality industry, thus, bringing about a more dynamic Malaysian hospitality industry. MAHTEC Sdn Bhd commenced its fiscal year in 1998 to profile MAH as a human resource development provider and to upgrade the skills and knowledge of staff-in-service in the industry. MAHTEC is the training arm of the Association specializing in developing quality human resources in the hospitality industry. Highly specialized in the areas of Hospitality Skills Training and Managerial Development Training, all programs are facilitated by experienced and qualified Trainers through workshops and practical session.
